International cultural cooperation: Europe & Latinoamerica

2016-DGDEVCO

On the 17th and 18th of May 2016 I have contributed to the Regional Seminar for Latin America and the Caribbean that is organised yearly by the Directorate-General for International Cooperation and Development of the European Union.

The seminar has brought together Heads of EU Delegations and key staff to discuss challenges and perspectives for EU development and international cooperation in the region. The European External Action Service, the European Investment Bank and a number of high level participants from key organisations in the region, such as CEPAL and IDB, were in attendance at the event.

I have participated in a panel dedicated to discussing the challenges and opportunities for international cooperation in the areas of culture, social inclusion and gender. My talk has focused on discussing notions of culture and ways to challenge narrow, exclusive notions that may lead to exclusion and community disempowerment.
